In this fractured world where optimism is often difficult to find, museums surely have an even more important role to play in bringing people together, encouraging diverse viewpoints, making space for visitors to engage in learning, giving audiences the opportunity to imagine a better future for everyone. Museums do matter.

  CIMAM mourns the death of Deborah Marrow who made it possible for CIMAM to support the attendance of over 200 contemporary art museum professionals from underrepresented countries around the globe to the CIMAM Annual Conferences since 2005.

  CIMAM questions the decision of the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs to withhold the funding granted to the Aichi Triennale 2019

  

  CIMAM is hopeful that the decision to withhold funding is a result of a misunderstanding between the parties involved and calls on the Agency for Cultural Affairs to restore its grant to the Aichi Triennial 2019.
