Biography

My most recent curatorial projects have centred on long-term collaborations and co-curatorships, including Los Grupos: Retos a la Hegemonía y Revueltas Artísticas, co-organised by the University Museum of Contemporary Art (MUAC) and the Institute for Aesthetic Research (IIE) at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2025, I served as Pedagogical Curator for the second edition of the Bienal das Amazônias, where I worked with the education team to develop the Amazonia as Pedagogy programme. Inspired by Afro-Brazilian traditions of emancipatory education in anti-slavery quilombos and Indigenous pedagogies of caring for the Earth, the programme explored education as a collective and decolonial practice.

Since 2005, I have worked across contemporary art museums and academia to explore the curatorial potential of art such as pedagogy and the poetics of co-creation, grounding collaboration at the core of my museological practice. As Pedagogical Curator at the Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art, I helped establish the Department of Art Education Studies. Later, as Pedagogical Curator and Deputy Director of MUAC, I co-developed projects under the framework of Pedagogies of Contingency, drawing on the legacy of Latin American critical counter-pedagogies to rethink the relationship between museums, knowledge production, and public engagement.

As a researcher in contemporary art at the Institute for Aesthetic Research, UNAM, I lead two complementary research areas. The first examines the work of artists whose practices, informed by Southern epistemologies and feminist thought, have advanced counter-pedagogies, community-based art education, and experimental schools open to diverse publics. The second focuses on exhibition histories and post-critical museology, investigating radical institutional and biennial experiments that anticipated the educational turn in curatorial practice across Latin America, Europe, and the Global South.
