Biography

Carolina Rodrigues de Lima is an art historian and curator whose practice explores the intersections of contemporary art, territoriality, and social justice. She holds a bachelor’s degree in art history and a master’s degree in visual arts from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. As a researcher with the Art, Anthropology, and Heritage Research Group (NAPA/CNPq), her work examines the boundaries of the art system, territoriality, and ethnic-racial relations through the perspective of Rio de Janeiro's West Zone.

Carolina is currently Chief Curator of the Museu Bispo do Rosário Arte Contemporânea, where she leads artistic management and curatorial strategy with a focus on community-based practices and gender diversity. Her previous roles include Associate Curator at the Sesc RJ Commerce Museum and Cultural Projects Manager at Firjan SESI. Over the past five years, she has curated more than 20 exhibitions at major Brazilian institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art in Recife and the Museum of Afro-Brazilian History and Culture, advocating for curatorial approaches that connect contemporary art with popular and ancestral knowledge.

Her current work centres on projects that combine academic research with public engagement. She is leading the technical and curatorial development of the Arthur Bispo do Rosário Online Catalogue Raisonné, a landmark initiative for the digital preservation and international dissemination of the artist's oeuvre. She also teaches a professional curatorial practice course at the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro, following her role as mentor for the Territórios Curatoriais residency programme. Her most recent projects include inaugurating a new Sesc cultural centre in Paraty and curating Tromba D'Água at the Museum of Tomorrow, an exhibition exploring environmental identities.
