"I very much look forward to playing an active role in CIMAM. As Director of Collections, International Art at Tate, being a part of the CIMAM community would allow me to further explore protocols and programming across the museum sector, especially in relation to new forms of collecting. While at Tate, I have become increasingly interested in the idea of transformative acquisitions that challenge the existing place of the artwork within the museum."

"To this end, I have helped shape a new five-year collecting strategy for Tate, which looks to strengthen diversity and inclusion through the acquisition of works by First People and Indigenous artists, makers’ communities, transnational artists overlooked by the cannon, and art as viewed through the lens of ableism. Underpinning this is an interest in contemplating how to evolve more sustainable ways of collecting. I look forward to hearing more from my fellow contemporaries and other museum directors who may well be asking similar questions."

Gregor Muir, Director of Collection, International Art, Tate, London, United Kingdom.
