We are pleased to share this special talk: The future of museums and galleries – looking beyond the era of Covid-19 organized by the British Council, Japan.

An online discussion between Dr. Gabriele Finaldi, Director of the National Gallery in London, and Mami Kataoka, President of CIMAM, Director of Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, with opening remarks from the UK’s Minister of State (Minister for Asia), Nigel Adams MP.

The global pandemic has forced cultural institutions to innovate in order to meet the needs of their audiences and to ensure their financial sustainability. In this discussion, two leading figures from the UK and Japanese cultural sectors will address some key questions about the future of museums and galleries. We ask, how can museums and galleries connect with a global audience? And what is the role of the arts in society in the era of Covid-19 and beyond?
