Today, May 18, on International Museum Day 2022, ICOM is launching a true call-to-action message: museums have the power to transform the world around us.

CIMAM joins this message by inviting all museum professionals to participate in a pioneering and crucial survey to learn first-hand about the potential of museums to bring about positive change in their communities through the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring a future for generations to come.

The power of museums to trigger change is linked to several SDGs representing the purposes of inclusion, education, equality, and diversity, among others.

SDG 4: Quality and education.

SDG 5: Gender equality.

SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth.

SDG 10: Reducing inequalities.

SDG 11: Sustainable cities and communities.

SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production.

SDG 13: Climate action.

SDG 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions.

SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.

Now is the time to get involved and assess the museum community's engagement in being part of the change, where we need to improve, and where we are leading this sustainable transformation.

Do it yourself or forward it to the people in your museum who can answer some of the questions: museum directors, program managers, curators, sustainability curators, exhibition managers, and other professionals in museums, collections, and modern and contemporary art institutions, as well as independent curators.

Everyone who has something to say about commitment and sustainability is invited to participate in this survey:
