2021 has certainly been a year full of new opportunities shaped by the ongoing worldwide socio-economic difficulties. Opportunities which have led CIMAM to create new means of communication to enhance the importance of museums and provide close support to contemporary art professionals. In this respect, we are extremely grateful and delighted to have been able to successfully hold the CIMAM 2021 Annual Conference in Poland entitled Under Pressure. Museums in Times of Xenophobia and Climate Emergency.

We would like to express our appreciation to all our members, who are suffering the consequences of the crisis marked by the pandemic, and would like to remember the importance of respecting and supporting each other in bearing the load of promoting culture and art in our own unique way.

In the words of Mami Kataoka, President of CIMAM: “If we think back over the last two years, we have all been under some weight of pressure. Coming together in Poland and hearing different experiences and thoughts in the previous years reminded us that it has really been a tough year, professionally, institutionally, and personally. Being constantly under pressure, particularly for some of us who are in leadership positions and have to pretend that we have endless, positive energy to give to our staff and the institution, I think we are allowed to depressure and take good care of ourselves."

Above all, we want to express our special thanks and gratitude to our patrons. Without them, all this would not be possible. Thank you sincerely for your trust and commitment to CIMAM!
