Dr. Magdalena Ziółkowska and Wojciech Grzybała, co-founders of the Andrzej Wróblewski Foundation and Major Patrons of CIMAM, receive the Jerzy Stajuda Prize for Art Criticism 2024 for their monograph Andrzej Wróblewski. Exhibiting.

The Jerzy Stajuda Prize for Art Criticism 2024 is one of Poland’s longstanding recognitions for excellence in critical writing. It was proposed by art historian and critic Paweł Sosnowski and established in 1992. Originally held under the auspices of the Society for the Encouragement of the Fine Arts, since 2001 under the patronage of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. The Prize is funded by Jerzy Stajuda’s heirs and the Zachęta National Gallery of Art, the Prize’s co-organiser since 2012.

As the jury emphasizes on the ceremony on October 10, "In the 780 pages of the publication, the co-authors of the book not only summarize the reception of Wróblewski to date, but also leave important premises for further research on his work and its reinterpretation. The publication is therefore critical in two ways. On the one hand, it offers conscious and exploratory readings of Wróblewski's works and exhibitions. On the other hand, it presents criticism and (so closely related to it) curatorial craft as tools of cultural cognition...”

This award has been given for critical activity in the field of art since 1992. Its founders are the family of painter and art critic Jerzy Stajuda (1936–92) and Zachęta — National Gallery of Art, and its co-organizer is The Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts.

“Andrzej Wróblewski. Exhibiting” is the third monograph co-published by Andrzej Wróblewski Foundation and Hatje Cantz Verlag, with its ongoing collaboration for more than 10 years.

The publication was published in partnership with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.

As an active Major Patron of CIMAM, the Andrzej Wróblewski Foundation contributes meaningfully to the international discourse on modern and contemporary art. This recognition underscores the Foundation’s long-term commitment to scholarship, curatorial research, and cultural reflection, values that resonate strongly with CIMAM’s mission and global community.

CIMAM warmly congratulates Magdalena and Wojciech on this achievement.
