About Museum Schloss Moyland

Museum Schloss Moyland is a nationally and internationally known museum with an extensive collection of art from the 19th to 21st centuries. At its center is the large collection of works by the important artist Joseph Beuys and Fluxus, supplemented by other relevant artistic positions of late modernism, postmodernism and the present.

With special exhibitions and collection presentations, the museum strives to open up to social issues as well as cultural techniques, media and contemporary themes. The aim is to emphasize the representation of social diversity, taking into account the equal rights of male, female and diverse artists and other possible identities.

The increased inclusion of new artistic and digital media is part of this reorientation. Since 2022, the museum has placed a stronger focus on performative artistic approaches and the dialog between positions in the collection and contemporary art.

The museum and exhibitions are housed in a historic neo-Gothic moated castle and park (with exhibition hall and sculpture park) not far from the Dutch border. There are several site specific works that have been developed for the museum, in response to the castle, park and the museum collection.
