About Dia Art Foundation

Dia’s collections include a Permanent artwork collection, Study Collection, and Archives all owned by Dia Art Foundation. The majority of the collection is modern and contemporary art from c.1960 to the present day. Dia’s collection started with its founding in 1974 and initially featured a small cohort of artists whose work was collected in depth.

In recent years the collection has been dramatically expanded to reflect greater diversity and gender disparity. Dia organizes exhibitions, collection displays, commissions and off-site projects totaling around 12 projects a year. They undertake in the region of 1200 annual learning and engagement programs including tours, family specific programs, teen programs, young adult programs (18-24), as well as an extensive program of lectures, symposia and poetry readings.

Dia's touring exhibitions allows them to expand their audience on a wider scale, allowing international communities to learn about Dia, their collection, and mission.
