Suzanne Cotter, CIMAM Board Member and Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia

Hello, I'm Suzanne Cotter, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. I have had the privilege of serving on the CIMAM Board for the past nine years. Being a CIMAM Board member is a tremendous privilege and opportunity to represent peers in our global community of modern and contemporary art museums.

As a CIMAM Board member, you can play an active leadership role to further CIMAM's mission to provide spaces for dialogue, exchange, critical reflection, and shared learning. Being a CIMAM Board member, you get to work alongside fellow museum peers and professionals and to be part of CIMAM working groups, which steer agenda-driven actions.

During my time on the board, I proposed the launch of the Outstanding Museum Practice Award, an initiative that strengthens CIMAM's mission to offer a window onto the exceptional work being carried out by museum professionals around the world, and to highlight the important contribution museums are making to society today.

I also chair the CIMAM Sustainability and Museum's Working Group, which has been instrumental in developing the sustainability toolkit and shaping CIMAM's 2024 Annual Conference that took place in Los Angeles. If you are committed to shaping the future of museums of modern and contemporary art and to working in collaboration with inspiring colleagues from around the world, I encourage you to stand for election to the CIMAM Board.

It's a fantastic experience, and it's been an extraordinary journey.

The deadline to submit your application is August 30, 2025.
