Abdullah Miniawy Expressionist, Writer, Composer and Performer, Paris, France

Day 2 motto: Mapping Desires

Apertura by Abdullah Miniawy, an expressionist, writer, composer, and vocalist based in Paris. Miniawy is one of the most singular voices in contemporary global music. His practice merges Egyptian soundscapes, jazz improvisation, and Sufi-inflected poetics, crafting performances that move between intensity, vulnerability, and profound contemplation.

At CIMAM 2025, Miniawy presents Peacock Dreams, a live performance created in collaboration with trombonists Robinson Khoury and Jules Boittin. Together, the trio fuses jazz, Sufi mysticism, and contemprary experimentation. Their music evokes both the chaos and poetry of urban Egypt, offering listeners a transformative experience that oscillates between inspiration, catharsis, and contemplation.

At its core, the project aims to bridge Eastern and Western musical traditions, redefining the boundaries of art and spirituality. Drawing from the Arab Spring and Miniawy’s earlier works, the trio’s compositions translated into English, French, and Italian invite audiences to reflect on humanity, faith, and unity through a universal language of sound.
