Italian public museums are too often at the margins due to funding and systemic issues, so I think such a membership would be beneficial both to me as a museum professional and to the museum I am the director of."

Marina Pugliese, MA PhD, is an art historian and museum director. Her research fields are Contemporary Art Materiality and Conservation, Public Art, and Museum Anthropology. She led a consortium of diverse museums in Milan, having founded two of the three institutions, Museo del Novecento and Mudec.
Recipient of various scholarships (Accademia dei Lincei/Université Paris 1 and University of Pavia), she was Scholar in Residence at the Getty Conservation Institute in 2013. The same year she co-authored with Barbara Ferriani Ephemeral Monuments, History and conservation of Installations, published by the GCI.
Since 2016, she has taught at the Art History and Visual Art Department of the California College of the Arts.
In 2017/18 she co-curated the exhibition Lucio Fontana. Ambienti/Environments, HangarBicocca (Milan), awarded Best Modern Art Solo show at the Global Art Awards in NY. In 2018-2019, she was Creative Director of the Future Humans Video Archive at the Berggruen Institute in Los Angeles, and in July 2020 she kickstarted the Public Art Department for the City of Milan.
Since 2020 she is conducting research for a major exhibition co-curated with Andrea Lissoni, "Inside Other Spaces. Environments by Women Artists 1956-1976"which will open on September 2023 at Haus der Kunst in Munich.
Currently, she is Head of Public Art and Director of the Museum of Cultures for the City of Milan.
