THE NATIONAL ART GALLERY OF SINGAPORE (TNAGS) HIRES CURATORIAL DIRECTORS
The National Art Gallery of Singapore (TNAGS) is hiring senior positions of Curatorial Director in the respective areas of Singapore, Southeast Asia, Asia (particularly in relation to the ink tradition) and International art. These are senior and highly visible curatorial positions at the Institution responsible for all aspects of curatorial, collection and programming developments, including museum operations management in the specific gallery zones of the museum. Reporting to the Director of the National Art Gallery of Singapore, the Curatorial Directors provide vision, direction and oversight for the exhibition, research and collection development of modern and contemporary artworks, represent the institution internationally in the respective areas, also nationally and in the region to build support through donor and sponsor cultivation. The Curatorial Directors also develop partnerships with the artists, arts organisations and the commu nity at large. Playing an active role in the museological planning and knowledge base of the institution, the Curatorial Directors also take lead in the administrative affairs, fiscal management, fundraising and personnel planning of the respective gallery zones.
JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS
• The ideal candidate would have curatorial experiences and in-depth knowledge in art history and historiography in the respective areas of collection focuses. He/she should also be knowledgeable in the latest developments in the modern and contemporary art and museum industry. He/she must have postgraduate qualifications in art history/cultural studies/art curatorship or related areas, and have a working knowledge of modern and contemporary art.
• The candidate must also have a minimum of 9-10 years experience in curatorial work, curatorial research, exhibition management, and team leadership. The candidate’s intellectual capacity and scholarship must also be demonstrated through publications on art, museum and cultural studies.
• The candidate must also possess the linguistic skills to conduct primary source research and have excellent analytical skills. He/she should also have experience in managing large budgets, fundraising, networking with museums, artists and collectors, and be good in interpersonal relations.
