CATHERINE GRENIER APPOINTED DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE MUSÉE NATIONAL D´ART MODERNE
Catherine Grenier will lead and develop the research policy of the museum, with an effort to bring together research activities to optimize them, improve their public visibility, initiate university partnerships, and open new positions and new perspectives. On the other hand, she will continue to adapt the Museum to globalization taking into account the emergence of new artistic scenes and the overall context in which the action of major cultural institutions develops. The aim of these missions is to develop knowledge and research, but also forge partnerships with artists and institutions throughout the world.
Curator at the Pompidou Center since 1991, Catherine Grenier has held several leadership roles and directed many shows including: Pop Years (2001) Big Bang (2006), Los Angeles 1965-1985 (2006), and among the monographs: Fischli & Weiss (1992), Günter Brus (1992), Alain Jacquet (1993), Malcolm Morley (1994), Erik Dietman (1994), Robert Morris (1995), Françoise Vergier (1995), Luciano Fabro (1996), Giuseppe Penone (1997). She has curated exhibitions Abracadabra (1999) at the Tate Gallery, London, and Monumenta 2010: Christian Boltanski at the Grand Palais.
Catherine Grenier has contributed to numerous publications and has written several monographs especially dedicated to Annette Messager, Christian Boltanski, Giuseppe Penone, Peter Doig, Claudio Parmiggiani, Robert Morris and Mona Hatoum.
