THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART, CHICAGO SEEKS CHIEF CURATOR

The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago seeks a James W. Alsdorf Chief Curator to provide leadership, strategy and direction for the core business of the museum, visual art program initiation, execution and interpretation. Responsible for generating new ideas and helping to create and develop all programming related to the fulfillment of the museum’s mission to contribute to and impact contemporary visual culture as befits a world-class contemporary art museum. Candidates must possess a creative, strategic programmatic vision, be able to provide strong curatorial departmental management, and actively and effectively engage in fundraising and cultivation activities.

Significant leadership in institutional programming and curatorial functions or arts leadership position in academic institution required. Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in exhibition planning, managing people, operations and budgets; knowledge of fundraising and donor cultivation with proven ability to generate funds and collection growth; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. M.A. in art history or equivalent required.
